Useful Technical Information

• RFC Index - RFCs describe existing or proposed features of InterNet protocols. They are numbered sequentially and many of them are extensions or revisions to existing protocols. Most RFCs can be ignored. There are prehaps less than 50 useful RFCs.
• The Free Software Foundation - provides legal assistance for programmers wanting to make software open source. The most widely used template software licence is the GNU Public Licence, which to promote collaborative improvements to software.
• The InterNet Software Consortium - provides the most popular versions of some of the underlaying InterNet software, such as, BIND, which converts domain names into InterNet Protocol addresses.
